Bishop, First Responders Call on (p)Resident To Address 9/11 Health Concerns
Before the President’s State of the Union address, Congressman Tim Bishop and 9/11 First Responder John Feal from Long Island took part in a national press conference calling attention to the unmet health needs of 9/11 responders.
Feal, a demolition supervisor and U.S. Army veteran who worked at Ground Zero, was horribly injured on September 17, 2001, when an eight-ton steel beam crushed one of his feet. He has also experienced severe respiratory problems related to his work at Ground Zero, but like thousands of rescue workers, he was not eligible for the 9/11 fund. Along with others, he started the nonprofit “FealGood Foundation” to spread awareness and educate the public about the catastrophic health effects 9/11 had on first responders, as well as to raise money to provide assistance to assist these heroes.
